In efforts to better connect communities with their local lands, Hawaii Foodbank has set out to restructure its food programming to focus on hyper-local growers and culturally relevant produce to distribute to its clients. Being a consistent consumer for local food producers helps strengthen the food system and creates a healthier, more resilient community overall. Funding for this program, allows the Foodbank to purchase locally grown and specifically culturally relevant items that are in great demand across its distribution centers. Nearly 120,000 clients are served every month thru the Foodbank on the islands of Oahu and Kauai.
