In 2022, an opportunity arose to fund an additional project with Ponheary Ly Foundation focused on expanding a small food bank operation. Intimately tied to their integral mission of education for Cambodia’s most underprivileged citizens, expanding food distributions to 81 families in some of the most remote and rural parts of their region allowed Ponheary Ly Foundation to reach even more children. This expansion allows two of society’s most basic needs to exist in harmony, as food bank distributions to these families coincides with the education practices of Ponheary Ly Foundation to lift up the community. Children no longer need to forage for food but can now attend school as this burden is lifted from their day to day activities. A grant was awarded in 2023 to allow this extension of Ponheary Ly Foundation’s mission to continue.
